As the theme of the snake from the year 2013, the horse is part of the Australian Lunar Series II. The the first edition of the Australian Lunar Series was minted from 1996 until the year 2007. From the year 2008 the coinage of the Lunar Series II started.
The special features are the beautiful animal motifs of the Chinese lunar calendar, which change every year.
