As the theme of the dog from the year 2006, the pig is part of the Australian Lunar Series I. This series was coined in the first edition from 1999 to 2007. Since the year 2008 the coinage of the Lunar Series II is produced.
The special features are the beautiful animal motifs of the Chinese lunar calendar, which change every year. It started in 1996 with the motive of the rat (or mouse). Unlike the Australian Nugget / Kangaroo the Lunar gold coins are limited to a maximum of copies per year.
This limitaion differs depending on the coin size. Because of this Limitation the customers can expect an increase of the price due the collector value for older vintages and special designs in addition to to the gold price.
