The Australian Lunar series was in the first edition minted from 1996 until the year 2007. From the year 2008 is the coinage of the Lunar Series II. The striking distinction is the beautiful animal motifs of the Chinese lunar calendar, change every year.
It started in 1996 with the motive of the rat (or mouse). In contrast to the Australian Nugget / Kangaroo the Lunar gold coins are limited to a maximum of copies per year at the top. This maximum size of lettering differ depending on coin size.
The Limitation can run out of customers in addition to the increase of the pure gold content by a price increase due to the demand for older vintages and special designs.
For more information on the Australian gold coins can be found on the website of the manufacturer The Perth Mint in www.perthmint.com
